Alissa Jackman
Violin, piano, Guitar, Voice

Alissa Jackman is a multi-style violinist, pianist, guitarist, vocalist, and music educator. She is a freelance musician based in New York City and performs on her acoustic, as well as her 7-String Viper violin. She specializes in rock string playing, but also plays in other styles, such as funk, jazz, experimental, and more. Alissa performs in many different settings ranging from artists and bands in the Brooklyn DIY scene, to ensembles like the 8-Bit Big Band and the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra. She is also an active studio musician and loves bringing the string parts various artists and groups have in their minds to life!
Alissa’s life as a music educator takes many forms. She is very dedicated to the growth of multi-style string education. Alissa has been a guest lecturer on multi-style string teaching for NYU Steinhardt’s String Pedagogy course a number of times, has taught masterclasses for string festivals such as Mark Wood’s MWROC Music Festival, and has been on faculty for Strings Without Boundaries since 2019. She is now the Program Director at Strings Without Boundaries. Alissa is also a music teacher in the Lower School Division of the Berkeley Carroll School in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Alissa holds a BM in Violin Performance and an MA in Music Education from NYU Steinhardt, where she studied under Cyrus Beroukhim.
