Tal Shtuhl

Tal Shtuhl is a saxophonist and pianist based in New York City. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in  music from Temple University and a Master’s in music from the University of the Arts. 

Tal has been a finalist for the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer’s award multiple times  and was accepted into the 2018 BMI Jazz Composers Workshop. He was awarded the Betty  Carter Jazz Ahead residency at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in 2014. An avid  educator, he has taught at the Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz, Haverford College, Play on,  Philly!, and the Kimmel Center’s Creative Music Program, directed by Anthony Tidd.  

As a performer, he has performed or recorded with many artists across jazz, classical, salsa,  pop, Gospel, and Bollywood genres, including Johnny O’Neal, Orrin Evans, Emmet Cohen,  Terell Stafford’s Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia, Anthony Tidd, Danny Jonokuchi, John Legend,  Tye Tribett, Jeff Bradshaw, Roberto Quinteros, Jeffrey Iqbal, and Frankie Negron. In 2006 he  was in the BET Pioneer Awards house band, backing up the following: Patti Labelle, Smokey  Robinson, Ashford and Simpson, Chubby Checker, Paul Schaffer.
