Violin, Viola, Piano, Voice

National Music Conservatory, DR
Maxlyn Jimenez a violinist, violist, pianist, singer, and music educator. She began teaching violin at the age of 15 at a private music school in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. That early opportunity sparked a deep passion for music education and set the foundation for her career as both a performer and teacher.
She studied both violin and viola at the National Music Conservatory, and later started a degree in Contemporary Music at the National University Pedro Henríquez Ureña, focusing on performance, composition, and arrangement. She also had the honor of performing with the Juan Pablo Duarte Symphony Orchestra, which gave her invaluable orchestral experience and helped shape her discipline and versatility as a musician.
In addition to her work as an instrumentalist, Maxlyn also a singer with a love for jazz and Latin music. During her time in the Dominican Republic, she led my own jazz group, where she performed regularly and explored vocal improvisation, arrangement, and live collaboration with other musicians. This experience enriched her understanding of harmony, rhythm, and musical expression, and continues to influence the way she teaches and perform today.
From 2017 to 2019, she worked as an Academic Coordinator and Violin Instructor at Fedujazz, a nonprofit music program connected to the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival. There, Maxlyn led the string program, taught both group and private lessons, developed curriculum, and helped organize performances—including opportunities for students to play alongside professional musicians at the festival.
Since moving to the U.S., she’s continued her work in early childhood education while remaining deeply involved in music. Maxlyn currently teaches music theory and piano at the Be Above After-School Program in Rego Park, Queens.
